Privacy Policy

This policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit casadapausa.pt or contact us through it, why, for how long and who receives it. It applies to this website only.

Data controller

CASA DA PAUSA, ALOJAMENTO TURÍSTICO, UNIPESSOAL LDA, company no. 516122681, registered office at Travessa de Outeiro n.º 3, 4730-560 São Pedro de Valbom, Vila Verde, Portugal, which runs the Casa da Pausa local accommodation (registration no. 134855/AL).

In short

• We only collect the data you send us through the contact form.
• There is no user registration, customer area, visitor analytics or advertising.
• The site uses a single, necessary cookie to remember that you have seen the cookie notice.
• Fonts, photos and the gallery are served by the site itself.
• The YouTube video only loads when you press the play button.

Contact form

Data: name and email (required), phone and message (optional). Without a name and an email we cannot reply.

Purpose: to answer your request for information or for a booking.

Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, when you ask about a stay (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR); otherwise, our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f)).

How it reaches us: the message is sent to Provider's form service, which runs on the Cloudflare platform (forms.zender.pt). That service checks the anti-spam protection and forwards the content by email to geral@casadapausa.pt. It does not store messages in a database.

Anti-spam protection: when the page opens, your browser asks forms.zender.pt for a small challenge and solves it in the background (ALTCHA, proof of work). It uses no cookies and does not track your browsing. The form also has an invisible field that only automated programs fill in.

Retention: we keep messages for up to 2 years after the last contact. If the contact leads to a booking, we keep what is needed for as long as the law requires (for example, invoicing records).

Bookings

The "Booking" button opens Casa da Pausa's page on Booking.com. Any data you enter there is processed by Booking.com under its own privacy policy.

Website and email hosting

The website is served by Cloudflare, Inc., acting as our processor. To deliver the pages and protect the site against abuse, it processes technical data about each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested and browser identification. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure. Cloudflare may process this data outside the European Union, notably in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

The geral@casadapausa.pt mailbox is hosted on Provider's servers in the European Union. Provider acts as our processor and also develops and maintains this website.

Map

The map in the "Location and routes" section uses OpenStreetMap. When that section comes close to the screen, your browser downloads the map images from tile.openstreetmap.org (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom, a country covered by a European Commission adequacy decision), which receives your IP address and this site's address. No cookies are used. The markers only open Google Maps if you click them.

YouTube video

In the "Who we are" section, the video's preview image loads from YouTube's servers (i.ytimg.com) when the section comes close to the screen, which discloses your IP address to Google. Hovering over the video may let the browser prepare the connection to YouTube.

The video player itself only loads when you press the play button, from youtube-nocookie.com (privacy-enhanced mode). From then on Google Ireland Limited processes your data and may store information in your browser, under Google's privacy policy.

Photo gallery

The photos and their enlarged view are served by the site itself, with no third-party services and no cookies.

Cookies

This site uses a single, strictly necessary cookie:

• cc_consent (casadapausa.pt): records that you have seen and closed the cookie notice, with the date, the language, a random identifier and the notice version, so that it does not appear again. Duration: 182 days.

We use no analytics, advertising or social media cookies. You can see the notice again from "Cookie preferences" in the footer of every page, and delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. YouTube can only store data in your browser after you start the video.

Links to other websites

The site links to Booking.com, Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, the Portuguese electronic Complaints Book and other websites. Once you follow those links, each site's own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting what was done before.

To exercise these rights, write to geral@casadapausa.pt. We reply within one month, which may be extended by two further months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you. You can also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (www.cnpd.pt).

Security

The site is static and has no database. All connections are encrypted (HTTPS), the form is protected against automated submissions and access to the mailbox is protected by personal credentials.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 16. If you are under 16, do not send us personal data without the permission of a parent or guardian.

Changes

If we change the way the site handles personal data, we will update this page and the date below.

Terms of use

The content of this site is protected by intellectual and industrial property rights. It may be reproduced with the source acknowledged, except for commercial or offensive purposes. Casa da Pausa is not responsible for the content of websites it links to.
